Tip: the audio is the reference for pronunciation — the romanisation is only an approximation.

How Thai dates work

A Thai date is built as วันที่ + day + month — for example วันที่ 15 มีนาคม (“the 15th of March”). Add the weekday in front and the year at the end when you need them.

  • Months mostly end in -คม (31-day), -ยน (30-day) or -พันธ์ (February): มกราคม January … ธันวาคม December.
  • The day number uses the ordinary Thai numbers after วันที่.
  • Years in Thailand are often the Buddhist Era (BE = CE + 543), but Western (CE) years are widely understood. This trainer uses CE.

Tips to learn Thai dates faster

  • Learn the seven weekdays and twelve months as vocabulary first — the time, days & months list has them with audio.
  • Make sure your Thai numbers are solid for the day number.
  • Start with “day + month”, then add the weekday, then the year using the buttons above.
  • Say the whole date out loud and compare with the audio.
  • Practise a few minutes every day rather than one long session.

Frequently asked questions

How do you say the date in Thai?

Use วันที่ + the day number + the month, e.g. วันที่ 15 มีนาคม. Put the weekday in front (วันจันทร์…) and the year at the end when needed.

What are the days of the week in Thai?

They all start with วัน: วันจันทร์ (Mon), วันอังคาร (Tue), วันพุธ (Wed), วันพฤหัสบดี (Thu), วันศุกร์ (Fri), วันเสาร์ (Sat), วันอาทิตย์ (Sun).

Do Thai people use Buddhist or Western years?

Both are understood. The Buddhist Era (BE) is 543 years ahead of the Western (CE) calendar, so 2026 CE is 2569 BE. This trainer uses CE years.
